BRAVERY
LIVES ON

Background

We remember Sara Danius as an icon, who broke the glass ceiling in a male-dominated world of academia.

Her bravery, as a professor, author, feminist and the first woman to ever lead the Swedish Academy, inspired many. She made the pussy-bow blouse a statement garment in the #metoo-movement, and showed how clothing can be used as a means of communication.

After her passing, Danius’s family wanted to give her clothes new life, to let them continue to communicate and inspire. Therefore, together with Tradera they created the charitable initiative Bravery Lives On.

Danius’ clothing was worn again, by distinguished female academics, to celebrate their bravery and inspire others to follow their own path – just as Danius did.

The clothes, along with portraits and their stories were exhibited at Sven-Harrys konstmuseum in Stockholm.
